Chicago’s oldest union bank ‘Amalgamated Bank of Chicago’ has rebranded in time for its 102nd anniversary. It has taken up a new name ABOC, logo and visual identity for a modern look to reflect the bank’s rich heritage.
Nick Weaver, ABOC president and chief operating officer, says it’s the right time to broadly communicate the things that set the bank apart – a strong foundation, trust, financial and banking expertise, and personalized and responsive service. “Through this rebranding, we will re-energize the bank, re-introduce it to the Chicago area and position its capabilities to new customers in other markets.
Weaver highlighted that today’s banking industry is extremely competitive. He believes it’s essential to evolve and grow to survive. “We are eager to demonstrate that we’ve done just that and will use the platform of the rebranding to capitalize on our forward-looking, digital, growth-oriented approach.”
The bank’s rebranding features the introduction of a shorter, more user-friendly trade name and tagline ‘A Bank Built on a Strong Foundation’ for the new ABOC brand. The new logo is an interlocking hexagon that subtly depicts a handshake – spotlighting the close partnership that ABOC has with its clients. Moreover, it shows that the bank is building on the rich history that has contributed to its success for more than a century.
ABOC is also attracting new union customers through its Union Protect Solutions. It will cater to the diverse and changing needs of unions of all sizes by grouping services and products, which can be administered remotely without the need for a physical location. ABOC stands out with its ability to meet the specific needs of unions and provide protection for today and solutions for tomorrow.
Furthermore, the bank has expanded its customized commercial financing solutions, sophisticated treasury management tools, trust and investment services, and personal banking as per the current preferences and needs of today’s customers. Weaver added that ABOC is well-positioned to compete in an increasingly crowded financial services industry.
