Luxury Mover: All-New Lexus LM Enters Chauffeur-Driven Sector

The second-generation Lexus LM luxury MPV was unveiled at the 2023 Shanghai International Automobile Industry Exhibition on Tuesday. The Luxury Mover is as close to a private jet as it can get on wheels!

Focused heavily on the chauffeur experience, the Lexus LM comes in both four- and seven-seat configurations. It will bolster the Japanese brand’s position in the market and take on legendary marques, such as the Mercedes-Benz, Bentley, Rolls-Royce, and Maybach.

The latest version sports a stiffer chassis, which offers 50% more torsional rigidity than the outgoing model. The stiffness comes from tweaks, like additional bracing, improved rockers, and reinforced pillars. Lexus also utilized more structural adhesives in the new model to reduce the amount of vibration traveling through the body. The Lexus LM will be offered with one of the four-cylinder hybrid powertrains. It fits the brand’s AVS Suspension system to the LM, now complete with frequency-sensitive piston values on the dampers.

Lexus LM features sliding doors and sits on a set of 17in or 19in alloy wheels, comfort, airline-style recliner seats, a 48in widescreen television, and a premium, 23-speaker surround sound audio system, and pillow headrests. There are fold-out tables, several USB ports, wireless phone chargers, reading lights, and vanity mirrors. Moreover, there’s a fridge, rear gloveboxes, and an umbrella holder. Users can also take advantage of a dimmable glass panel for privacy.

Lexus also introduced a new voice control system, the first in the world to cater specifically to rear passengers. There’s an overhead console that controls the doors, storage compartments, and cabin temperature. Drivers have the advantage of a digital rear-view mirror, a panoramic-view monitor, a digital infotainment system, and digital dials.
