The ‘99 Bus’: Cadbury Flake Offers Free Day Trips to the Seaside With First Bus

Cadbury Flake has acknowledged how challenging and stressful it is for many parents to organize day trips to the coast by offering free, pre-bookable service with First Bus to the seaside.

Cadbury’s research highlighted that 7 in 10 British parents hardly take their children to the beach. It stated that this is as real as four in ten saying they can’t get there easily. 27 percent are deterred by the high cost of travel, while 14 percent said it’s a nightmare finding somewhere to park. Moreover, 62 percent of the parents said going to the beach is one of the most stressful family days out. 48 percent said it’s too much of a trouble and cancel their seaside plans at the last minute.

Olena Solodka, Brand Manager at Mondelez, said they are thrilled to partner with First Bus to help more families experience the simple joy of a beach trip this summer, which wouldn’t be complete without a seaside Cadbury Flake 99.

“While 95 percent of Brits cherish time at the coast, some children are not setting foot on the sand as the cost and stress of getting there can be a real barrier for parents,” he explained. “That’s why we created the 99 bus to give more families the chance to create the types of memories that we all cherish – building sandcastles, paddling in the sea, and enjoying an iconic Cadbury Flake 99.”

John Godfrey, Head of Brand Strategy at First Bus, said they had to get involved when they saw the Cadbury research highlighting how many kids are missing out on those classic seaside adventures. “At First Bus we understand that accessible and stress-free travel is an important part of any day out,” he said. “We’re proud to partner on this initiative, which will help parents and children create cherished memories together this summer. We look forward to seeing many happy faces on board and at the beach.”

Cadbury-First Bus has created two new bus routes that will run on the weekends of 10/11 and 17/18 of August. West Yorkshire families can take advantage of this seaside fix with services departing from Leeds or Bradford leading up to the sandy shores of Bridlington. Families can also enjoy these services from Tower Hill (London) to Southend-On-Sea.
