The GITEX GLOBAL, the world’s largest and best-rated tech event, is running in its 44th year at the Dubai World Trade Center (DWTC) from October 14-18. With 6,500 exhibitors, 1,800 startups, 1,200 investors, and more than 180 countries, GITEX GLOBAL records the highest-ever international participation.
The event is aligned with Dubai’s ambition to be home to 30 start-up unicorns by 2030. Gitex Global connects with the world’s largest network of tech events given its stellar list, including GITEX EUROPE Berlin, GITEX ASIA SINGAPORE, GITEX AFRICA MOROCCO, and GITEX NIGERIA.
Abdullah Bin Touq Al Marri, cabinet member & UAE Minister of Economy, during the ‘Rise of the New Economy: AI & Emerging Industries’ session delved into the UAE’s strategic initiatives fostering innovation, enhancing competitiveness, and positioning the country as a global leader in the new economy.
“We are in the business of breaking records. We’ve already achieved a non-oil sector that accounts for 74 percent of GDP – this record has never happened before in our country’s history,” he said. “The UAE’s environment and ecosystem attracts people from around the globe and the target now is to reach 80 percent by 2030 and become an R&D hub for the world.”
Most of the discussions were on AI, its future, and its impact on society and industry.
