Al-Futtaim has launched its electric mobility company in the UAE as part of its branding efforts to promote sustainable and environmentally-friendly transportation. As the first-ever e-mobility-focused dealership in the UAE. Envisioning an expected CAGR of 30 percent until 2028 for the EV market, Al-Futtaim’s branding is poised to cater to the growing demand for electric vehicles. This move follows Saudi Arabia’s entry into the business last year with ‘Ceer’.
The Company’s Focus on Sustainability
The new company will operate as an individual entity with a team of global talents pooling their expertise in an electric vehicle, hybrid and automotive, led by a newly appointed Managing Director, Hasan Nergiz. The company’s vision is to redefine how customers perceive electric and hybrid vehicles, giving everyone in the UAE open access to advanced technologies and new-age, sustainable driving experiences.
Hasan Nergiz, Managing Director, of Al-Futtaim Electric Mobility Company, stated, “We can only fulfil the new company’s vision by bringing a portfolio of world-class brands, cutting-edge innovations, end-to-end solutions, and the unparalleled service standards that customers have become accustomed to with Al-Futtaim.” The new company will not only sell electric vehicles but also provide end-to-end solutions to address the charging infrastructure, battery replacement, and customer service requirements of its clients.
Partnerships with BYD and Siemens
To support the growth of the EV market in the UAE, Al-Futtaim has partnered with Siemens to create charging stations. The Charge2Moov stations are suitable for all-electric vehicle brands and come with a five-year warranty. This partnership demonstrates Al-Futtaim’s commitment to sustainable transportation and its efforts to bring the latest technologies to its customers.
The company has also announced its partnership with BYD, a global leader in electric vehicles. Al-Futtaim Electric Mobility Company will be the representative of BYD in the UAE, making the UAE the first country in the Middle East to have BYD vehicles touring its streets.
Growing Acceptability of Electric Vehicles in UAE
The UAE is already seeing a surge in demand for electric cars, with one of the highest levels of EV acceptability globally, as 30 percent of the UAE residents strongly consider buying an EV to contribute to the green transition. Additionally, the UAE has one of the highest charging-station-to-vehicle ratios in the world, with 325 charging stations currently, and plans to increase this number significantly in the coming years.
