Sports Direct Drops Print-at-Home Labels for Automated Parcel Machine Service

UK sportswear and fashion retailer Sports Direct is ditching print-at-home labels for consumers’ convenience. It has partnered with InPost for automated parcel machine (APM) service.

This enables Sports Direct consumers to return online purchases without the need to print a label. With InPost Lockers, they can scan a QR code received to their phone at their nearest locker, and leave their items in one of the compartments. Research states that print-at-home labels are a well-documented pain point for consumers, particularly those with busy home lives and no access to printers. It should be noted that almost 30% of consumers do not have access to printers at home to print return labels.

Consumer is First

A spokesperson for Sports Direct said they are constantly looking for ways to improve their consumer journey and create a seamless beginning-to-end product lifestyle. The retailer’s partnership with InPost will help generate a smooth process for its consumers when returning online purchases by using QR code technology.

The process just takes a few seconds. Moreover, consumers can benefit from trip twinning as InPost lockers are situated in convenient locations. They can return their parcels at a time and place that suits them. InPost has more than 5,000 parcel lockers across the U.K, located in shopping centres, train stations, supermarkets, petrol forecourts and high streets etc.

Michael Rouse, CEO of InPost International, said consumer expectations have changed dramatically over the last few years. Consumers expect and demand convenience at every touchpoint. As such, for retailers, returns are becoming a huge part of the consumer experience. It also drives customer lifetime value. InPost will support Sports Direct ambitions to offer super convenient returns to their customers.
