The Hyatt Centric French Quarter, which was originally built in the 1880s as the D.H. Holmes department store, has completed an extensive interior innovation – redesign of the lobby, guestrooms, fitness center, and meeting spaces, as well as food & beverage spaces.
Located adjacent to the famed Bourbon Street, the stylish 254-room hotel is within walking distance of New Orlean’s most popular attractions, including the Saenger Theatre, Jackson Square, Smoothie King Center and Caesars Superdome, among others.
The hotel’s renovation was led by Studio 11, an award-winning design firm. The works sheds light on the city’s spirited culture and dramatic architecture, with paneled high ceilings, and warm metals. A moody color palette set the stage for bold splashes of geometric patterns complemented by natural woods and intricate brass detailing. The renovation has been layered with thoughtfully styled touches, like framed photos of 1950s New Orleans storefronts, artwork of hand-painted brass masks, and unique accessories, pay homage to the hotel’s past and locale.
Studio 11 drew inspiration from the 1950s European design and the city’s rich ambiance for the lobby area with rich tones of blue and burnt orange, colorful mosaic tiles and geometric wood paneling on the walls. The elaborate custom chandeliers and patterned floor rugs adorn the renovated space, adds depth and sophistication. The hotel boasts its spacious guestrooms and suites, which feature contemporary furnishings and graphic carpet patterns. The premium suites feature custom curated décor, antiques and artwork with themes drawn from the local area and the building’s department store history.
Holmes, the hotel’s new signature dining concept can’t be overlooked. It evokes a polished, warm ambiance rooted in comfort, allows guests to indulge in delicious New Orleans fare and crafted cocktails. The Holmes’ food menu has been designed by executive chef Malia Hamilton. The menu features guest favorites, like gumbo and BBQ shrimp. And the bar’s cocktail menu, with its signature drinks – 1849 and the Dauphine Dream – cannot be missed.
