Gucci Cosmos is the Italian high-end luxury fashion house’s travelling exhibition which explores the brand’s 102-year history. The exhibition began its world tour at the West Bund Art Center in Shanghai, China on April 28 and will conclude on June 25.
Gucci’s itinerant exhibition marks the first time the House’s most iconic archival pieces will travel outside of Florence, Italy portraying the heritage-infused narrative crafted over the last 102 years around the world. The brand describes Gucci Cosmos as a universe composed of eight worlds, where past, present and future coexist, a continuous exploration, a constant search back and forth in time where the visitor can fully devote themselves to the beauty of the treasure presented.

The features showcase reminiscent of space and the concept of time, with luminous installations and innovative moving technologies telling the timelessness of the brand’s visionary aesthetic and how its power of attraction creates endless dialogues with today’s society.

Maria Luisa Frisa, Gucci Cosmos curator, says it is an immersive exhibition experience in which the narrative of origins and history is continually challenged by the imagination of the future. “This project was an extraordinary opportunity for me to traverse the universe of Gucci once again and tell its story through the ever-different lens of the clothes, objects, elements, people, and contexts that have made the House an iconic trailblazer within the fashion and collective visual culture for over a century. The Gucci Cosmos exhibition is an immersive experience in which the House’s origin story and its history are continuously put to the test by the imagination of the future.”
Es Devlin, Gucci Cosmos set designer, believes the Maison and its history over the last century can be reconstructed by looking at its ability to evolve, to expand following the evolution of its own consciousness. Gucci Cosmos is a tribute to the House’s most iconic designs, symbols, products, and the exceptional talents of its designers and artisans.
