This year, the event is celebrating its tenth edition and promises to be bigger and better than ever before.

Hosted at Dubai Design District (d3), this festival continues to celebrate creative brilliance from the region and beyond, providing a stage for both emerging and established designers, architects, educators, companies, and creative minds. From November 7 to November 12, Dubai Design District (d3) will transform into a hub of creativity and innovation. Here’s what you can expect at this year’s Dubai Design Week:

A Convergence of Design, Science, and Technology

This year’s event offers a diverse and free-to-attend program that promises to inspire and provoke thought. The focus is on how design, science, and technology can converge to reimagine materials and practices. Among the highlights are large-scale outdoor installations made from unique materials like loofah, sugar, and repurposed bamboo, with a spotlight on large-scale 3D-printed architecture.

Exhibitions, Pop-Ups, and Installations: A Feast for the Senses

Dubai Design Week will feature numerous exhibitions, pop-ups, and installations, all free to enter. The event will showcase contemporary and high-quality design from across the Middle East, North Africa, and South Asia. Visitors can expect to see captivating performances and immersive experiences at one-of-a-kind pavilions. Some of the highlights of the exhibitions, pop-ups, and installations are:

  • “100/100 Best Arabic Poster” exhibition, showcasing work from emerging UAE-based designers
  • Sustainable pavilion created by Emirati architect Abdalla Almulla
  • “The Altostrata”,  a 3D-printed pavilion made from biodegradable sugar-based material
  •  Traditional shelter made from sustainable cement alternatives by sustainable architects Wael Al Awar and Kazuma Yamao

The Creative Marketplace: Where Art Meets Commerce

The Marketplace is a must-visit for those who are passionate about handmade goods, sustainably sourced items, and delectable food. Running from November 11-12, it offers a consciously curated outdoor shopping experience. Visitors can discover the best of Dubai’s creatives, artisans, and small businesses. Kids can enjoy a variety of child-friendly activities while you shop. The Marketplace is your chance to take home a piece of Dubai Design Week and support local talent.

Workshops, Talks, and Masterclasses: Knowledge and Creativity

Dubai Design Week offers a lineup of workshops, talks, and masterclasses covering a wide range of design subjects. Visitors can learn from experts and gain valuable insights into the world of design. The opening keynote at The Forum in Downtown Design will be delivered by international trend forecaster Lidewijk Edelkoort. The UAE Designer Exhibition at Downtown Design highlights the work of new and emerging UAE-based designers. Across the entire fair, visitors can explore the creations of 70 different designers and companies that call the UAE home.
