The San Francisco International Airport (SFO) has unveiled a new logo and brand identity after 24 years. The new identity underscores the Airport’s commitment to modernization and innovation. SFO’s new logo reflects San Francisco’s rich history, the dynamism of the present, and the boundless opportunities of the future.
Ivar C. Satero, Airport Director, said the new brand and logo highlight the exciting changes happening at SFO. “Much like our old logo marked a period of time in the early 21st century, the new logo shows our commitment to deliver an airport experience where people and our planet come first,” he explained. “With a primary color we call SFO Golden Hour Blue, the new color pays homage to the past while transforming to a brighter and more vibrant blue.”
Satero said the new logo reflects SFO’s new vision ‘Inspiring the Extraordinary’ and their new mission ‘Delivering an airport experience where people and our planet come first’. He asserted that the new logo brings about flexibility in creating special-themed logos and utilizes the ‘O’ to reflect the essence of the people and projects.
SFO came up with the new brand identity after an 18-month process of market research and creative ideation. It showcases a digital-first design, allowing SFO’s mark to be revised for digital environments, scaling across different devices and screen sizes.
