Pizza Hut Set Make Pizza Deliveries via Underground With Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

In an exciting new collaboration with the new animated feature film Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem that releases in August, Pizza Hut will make deliveries via the underground!

Lindsay Morgan, Pizza Hut CMO, said Pizza Hut and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles have a longstanding history that goes back to the 90s. “With this new collaboration, we wanted to pay homage to the Turtles’ origins and their love of pizza, while also infusing modern touchpoints and a fun, creative take on pizza deliveries.”

Pizza Hut will achieve this in real life and through augmented reality (AR) gaming. The fast food chain took a hands-on approach with underground deliveries to New York City subway stations that were ordered by texting a turtle emoji to a special hotline. This is part of the campaign, and not a larger initiative, pizza delivery to non-traditional locations via mobile means has been a point of competition.

As part of the collaboration, Pizza Hut will release an AR game – another mobile activation. Players in “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Pizza Power” are delivery drivers with the task to find the four Turtles under virtual manhole covers, fighting mutants, and delivering pizza for the chance to win movie tickets and free pizza for a year.

Through this collaboration, the Turtles will appear in a co-branded TV spot, airing from June 26 in six, 15- and 30-second versions, with Pizza Hut making a cameo in the film, via a partnership with Paramount Pictures, Nickelodeon Movies, and Point Grey Production.
