Sprite Limelight 2024 presents international artists sharing their tales of perseverance to life with new music and storytelling. It features artists like Nigeria’s Fireboy DML, China’s Lay Zhang, Young Miko (Puerto Rico), Blxckie (South Africa), Mahalia (Great Britain), and Doechii (United States). They will share with fans how to keep a cool head amidst the heat of life’s everyday stress and tension.
The artists used their respective artistic visions and music styles to creatively interpret a core hook crafted by Take A Daytrip – GRAMMY nominated DJ, producer, and songwriting duo. Denzel Basptiste shared that when they started Take A Daytrip in a tiny basement studio in New York, they dreamed of traveling the world through the power of imagination and making music with artists across borders and language barriers.
Take A Daytrip partnered with Sprite to help international artists bring their tales of perseverance to life. David Biral shared that this time around they traveled to different countries, explored various cultures, connected with artists and crafted a hook that inspired the artists to explore their stories and pathways towards self-expression.
Josh Burke, Global Head of Music and Culture Marketing at The Coca-Cola Company, said Sprite Limelight creates connections between artists and audiences by sharing relatable stories of heat, going behind the scenes to uncover what makes them tick and what ticks them off. “By spotlighting emerging artists and how they take on the heat in their lives through music, we’re aiming to serve the ultimate cool-down to help navigate the heated moments of life for worldwide Gen Z audience who we know is a generation feeling the heat more than any other.”
Burke shared that the initial aim of Sprite Limelight was to do something completely different and to break the mold of the traditional music and brand partnership with a new type of program that places real artists and real stories at the center of everything. He added that their audience goes to music to switch off, clear their heads, shift moods, validate feelings, and ultimately, cool down.
Fans can participate in Sprite Limelight, which debuted in 2022, by channeling their own personal heat into beats and sharable tracks on Soundlabs – Sprite’s AI-powered remix tool. They have to scan QR codes on limited-edition Sprite cans designed by Sindiso Nyoni, a Zimbabwean artist. Fans can turn their frustration into inspiration by selecting a hook to make and remix sharable tracks.
