Quiksilver Unveils Sunglasses Made From Upcycled Surfing Wetsuits

Quiksilver has launched a limited-edition 150 pairs of sunglasses made from upcycled surfing wetsuits. This has been created in collaboration with Oceneo, a French eyewear producer. The limited-edition sunglasses follow Quiksilver’s October 2022 Take Back program that aimed to develop a collection and recycled system for used products.

Quiksilver said 150 sunglasses have been produced for the first stage of this partnership. “A roadmap has been set out to deploy this program more widely, notably by utilizing this material for other products in our range.”

The apparel company has also published the first results of its recycling research and announced a partnership with Oceneo. It specializes in upcycling surfing wetsuits that have reached the end of its life. Oceneo transforms the neoprene wetsuits into sunglasses and other accessories.

Quiksilver and Oceneo have reestablished the flagship model of Quiksilver sunglasses Ferris as FerrisNeo. A statement highlights that one wetsuit can produce frames for four pairs using a mixture of neoprene and pine resin. The components are made in France – bio-nylon lenses in the Jura region by Dalloz Creations, upcycled neoprene glasses case in Soustons by Tearing Waves, and packaging is produced in Saint-Jean-de-Luz by Donibanekopi.
