Nescafe Launches Ice Roast – Soluble Coffee

Nescafe has launched its first-ever soluble coffee Ice Roast, especially for consumption with cold water or milk, over ice.

Nestle, Nescafe’s parent company, recognizes the fact that 15% of coffee in the world is drunk cold. The majority of this is consumed by younger people, especially GenZ. There is a rising demand for products that allow people to recreate café-style cold coffee experiences at home.

The latest offer, Nescafe Ice Roast is being launched in China this month, to be followed by Mexico. Experts at Nestle’s coffee R&D center in Orbe Switzerland worked closely with the brand’s coffee business and markets to craft this breakthrough innovation from bean to cup.

Donald Howat, Global Category Lead for Nescafe, believes cold coffee is hot, with a new generation of coffee drinkers entering the category through the cold. “We’re really excited by this launch because Ice Roast gives them the opportunity to enjoy an even better cup of cold coffee at home and recreate their favorite drinks.”

Damien Tissot, Head of Nestle’s Product Technology Center Coffee, in Orbe Switzerland, said they have created a light-medium roast with Ice Roast that’s ideal to drink cold, with a smooth texture and cocoa notes that unlock new sensory territory. He said that by applying an innovative mindset, the company’s teams have created a new sensory experience in cold coffee.

Nescafe’s teams, with 100% Robusta coffee beans that are grown and produced sustainably, tailored the roasting profile for a lightly roasted soluble coffee without harsh or bitter notes. They optimized the extraction process for a refreshing taste and clear appearance in the cup and perfected the coffee granule structure, so it dissolves quickly and easily.
