Amazon Partners with Snapchat for Users to Buy Directly from Ads

Amazon has collaborated with Snap so that users can buy its products directly from ads on the social app, making purchases easier. Customers will be able to see real-time pricing, Prime eligibility, delivery estimates, and product details on select Amazon product ads in Snapchat.

A spokesperson for Amazon said customers will be able to shop Amazon’s Snapchat ads and checkout with Amazon without leaving the social media app. “In-app shopping will be available for select products advertised on Snapchat and sold at Amazon. People will be able to link their Snapchat and Amazon accounts to take advantage of the in-app shopping feature.”

This isn’t a first-time partnership between Amazon and Snapchat. Last year, Snap and Amazon introduced a collaboration that let Snapchat users try on eyeglasses using augmented reality (AR) and then buy those they liked at Amazon. Ben Schwerin, Snap’s senior vice president of partnerships, had said that with the combined innovation and technology between Snap and Amazon, they are unlocking exciting and fun new try-on experiences for hundreds of millions of Snapchatters.

The Amazon Snap collaboration will take on TikTok, which recently launched a TikTok Shop in the US for brands and creators to sell products directly on the social app. Amazon and Snap see TikTok as a threat because it’s able to reach out to younger millennials and Gen Z users.

Moreover, Amazon’s Snap partnership is quite similar to Amazon’s partnership with Meta wherein users can purchase Amazon products directly from ads on Instagram and Facebook. Amazon also teamed up with Pinterest back in April.
